Description
A vagrant that has been showing up more frequently in the north. Unlike our other Saddlebags, the hindwing has a narrow reddish-brown basal stripe instead of the large patch. The thorax is brown with paler stripes and the black on abdominal segments S8-S10 extends around the sides of the segments. One record from 1972 was a specimen collected from Yellow River Forest in Allamakee County. It should be watched for as there have been eruption years and records in the north have become more common.
